I know the umpires in this league can be frustrating and they leave something to be desired, but you have to play the hand you're dealt. It sucks at the time, I know. We've all been through it at one time or another, but just keep your chin up and play the game hard, whether the calls are for you or against you, and whether your record is 22-4 or 5-18.
Unfortunately (or fortunately, depending on your disposition), baseball doesn't reward pouting, yelling, cussing, screaming, bantering, throwing bases or calling an umpire something that would have had a bar of soap in your mouth when you were a child.Just like the prevailing majority of us baseball players, umpires are no where near perfect and can be inconsistent at times, make mistakes and even look foolish.
Give them a break, because in the end, it all evens its self out.

McKay says you are always positive, this doesn't show very good understanding that the last thing the YBL needs is more umpire talk.
The umps are no worse as arbiters, than those in uniforms are as players.
Some are good, some are bad, just like the players.
And there is a higher percentage of good umps, than there are good players.
I usually enjoy reading your "opinion" but today i can't say i do!
The call in question was not only dead wrong but also changed the outcome of the game. Over the years the umpires in this league have been outstanding,and they still are not that bad,but the best umpires are the ones you don't know are there. By that I mean they don't have an effect on the game either way, A "neutral" force on the field.
I know alot of the umps in this league and i call some of them my friends so this isn,t by any means an attack on them! I am just saying that from now on my team will let our play do the talking and leave it all out on the field. That way the only ones held accountable for our actions will be us!
The point was to remind people not to have too high of expectations. No one's perfect.

This is his Blog. Mistakes are made in life. Players make errors -Umps make calls that come into question. YBL umps are well trained people. Many are NCAA certified and have done many games on higher levels. We expect the best of our umps as we expect the best of our players/teams. We are all human.
NO umpire call ever changes the outcome of a game. I have been coaching for 40 years now. The players and coaches determine the final outcome of a game. There are 7-9 innings in a game. Players hit, throw the ball and catch the ball. All the umpires do is "make a call". Good/bad calls are made, but it is the guys between the white lines - the players - who determine the winner and loser in a contest.
Umpires def. change the outcome of games(how could they not) and this year the umps have been terrible.
The league is full of good players and good competition but the administration and umpires of this league are killing it.
im sorry YBLprez but i agree with last post, this year the umpires have been terrible. They do not come to the park ready to do thier job and ready to give thier best. They come to the field for a paycheck and want to get in and out asap. As referenced by several umpires this year..."extra innings is just overtime that we dont get paid for". they are not thier for the game or for the 40 guys that show up to play...they want thier 75 bucks and they want it by giving as little work and effort as they can.
